In case you haven't looked at the calendar lately... there are 25 shopping days left 'til Christmas!
This could mean different things to different people. For example, to those who are in the "Get-It-Done-Early" crowd, this means it's time to start gathering material needed for Easter projects. For MOST women, 25 days left means it's time to finish up some last minute preparations they've already started. And for MOST men, it means there's 24 more days until it's "that day" when they have to go out to the stores and find out what they'll get their wife for Christmas!
I generally avoid being in the December 24th shopping crowd. Lot's of testosterone in the stores on that day! I had one friend who would purposely go to the mall on Dec 24th just to sit and watch all the frantic men running into the stores! She was sadistic though and I dropped her from my Christmas card list!
So if you're married and your husband is one of those December 24th kind of guys, here's an idea that will make him and you very happy! Go to your local dealer this week, pick out what you really want and put it on layaway. Take the layaway receipt home and put it in an envelope and using a magnet, attach it to the front of the refrigerator. Before you put it there though, write on the front of the envelope, "Christmas Gift For Me -- Open Only In Emergency!"
That should do it!

Hi Larry and Holly;
Oh Holly. I am one of those women who love to sit in the mall on Dec.24th with my Tim Horton's coffee and just survey the confusion going on. I usually only do it in the morning as I get agitated in the afternoon and would want to help them. It is so disheartening to know that they leave it to the last minute.
My father was buried on Dec. 24 17 years ago. He had been sick most of December in the hospital. I spent most of my days at the hospital. I did have all of my shopping done even though there was no tree up and no decorations. My husband went out after the funeral in the afternoon as was his tradition but in the past it was without the stress of burying his father in law in the morning.
On Christmas morning for our children we sat around with christmas breakfast and opened our gifts. I received a wooden salt, pepper and napkin set. a stainless steel salt, pepper and napkin set and a ceramic salt.pepper and napkin set. Needless to say that was the last year my husband left his shopping till Dec.24.
It was not because he bought 3 of the same things and didn't even realize it but because it was too easy to just grab the first thing with no thought. DON"T BUY A GIFT IF YOU CAN"T PUT ANY THOUGHT INTO IT BUY A NICE CARD INSTEAD. The idea behind gift giving is to let someone know you are thinking of them and if you can't even remember what they like buy the card with a beautiful verse on it that explains your feelings.
The Dec, 24th coffee morning is to help me remember what is important in life and to pay hommage to my dad . Also it reinfoerces for me why we buy gifts. Just my 2 cents worth. LOL
