From the official website of The RiverWalk in San Antonio...
"At 7:00 p.m. on the Friday following Thanksgiving, the switch is thrown and approximately 122,000 twinkling lights form a magical canopy over San Antonio's River Walk. The lights shine brightly every evening through January 1. The lighting ceremony is the official kickoff to the Paseo Del Rio Holiday Festival."
That's where Holly and I will be this evening! We're so excited to see the Christmas boat parade. We'll be sitting in an outdoor cafe` watching the boats go by while we have supper. I'm sure we'll be taking lots of photos too and hopefully some of those will turn into embroidery designs for our members :-)

I really enjoyed the picture by the canal. Is that where you and Holly were to dine last night? I hope the boat parade was enjoyable and that you will post some pictures.
Also, the slide show of projects made by Jen-Jen was a very wonderful tribute. You all do such great things. Hope the Thanksgiving dinner was delightful. Sounded "reall good"!

Hi! I often read your notes but this one caught my eye. We live in Laredo, TX ...about 2 hours from San Antonio. We moved here from Peoria, IL about a year ago. We had family here from IL all week and they just left this morning to head back home. We talked about heading to San Antonio to see the River Walk with them today, but they decided just to head home and do the River Walk another visit. We thought maybe it wouldn't be so busy today with Black Friday. Guess I might have been wrong!! That would be spectacular to see! I will have to see it all through your eyes!!

The "lighting' is tonite (Friday) at 7pm. We'll catch the bus from in front of our campground at about 5:30pm. It should get us downtown by 6 o'clock. We have a table reserve under one of those umbrellas and will have dinner there while we take pictures of the decorated boats going by. I'll see if I can find a way to add a photo gallery here on Bobbin-Buzz so we can post more photos.

I looked at the picture before I read about it. My first thought was: Hey, that's downtown and sure enough it is! I live in Helotes which is a bedroom community of San Antonio.
If you are on the Riverwalk tonight, dress for cold weather! It's in the 40's. Texas weather is a bit unpredictable. Texans have a saying - If you don't like the weather, just wait a little bit and it will change!
Hope you enjoy your visit to San Antonio and Texas. We are glad to have you! Wish I could meet you and thank you personnally for the great desings and news letter.
Since I can't, consider this Thank you as big as Texas!

Larry and Holly,
Aw..the memories ! My family and I spent several Thanksgiving holidays in San Antonio. We often ate dinner with family, packed containers of leftovers and headed to San Antonio for the Alamo Classic Invitational Soccer Tournament. (I had to be there for the manager/coaches meeting that night or early Fri morn)
We spent alot of Friday nights on the Riverwalk with the CROWDS and lights ! It was awesome !
Thanks for reminding me of those happy days !
