Marty English:

The new Christmas design set is very nice. When you say members can download the entire set ...is that free? How much does it cost to join? I have enjoyed your newsletter for a year or more. I have a Viking SE and I do some embroidering, not a lot, but I do enjoy it. I am not extremely computer savvy, but I am willing to learn. I am in my "golden" years and also have other things which take up my time. Can you recommend one of your DVD's which would help me. Thanks.

Larry Pike:

Thanks for the compliment about the Christmas set.

Members can download any of the 16,000+ designs in the ArtisticThreadWorks design library. You can see all the designs by viewing the "Design Library" here:
http://www.artisticthreadworks.com/designlibrary

Membership costs $19.95 for 3 months. Or you can join for 1 month for $9.95 if you prefer.

We release at least 17 new sets of designs every month. (Aproximately 200 new designs) Members get all those new designs, as well as full access to our library of previously released designs too.

If you're looking for a DVD geared toward beginning embroidery then I'd recommend "Embroidery Basics" here:

If you're looking for a video geared toward beginning computer skills required for machine embroidery then I'd recommend "Computer Skills For Embroidery - Volume 1" here:

We see many golden years beginners in our discussion forums and in our email. You're not alone - there are LOTS of people in your age group that are just starting this hobby. I had a contest about 2 years ago where I awarded a prize to the youngest and oldest members of ArtisticThreadWorks. The youngest had just turned 19 (she joined when she was 18) and the oldest was 86. Here's the newsletter page where the article about this is located: http://www.artisticthreadworks.com/public/829.cfm?sd=61
