I called one of our friends "Kathi Quinn" that works for RNK on Thursday to talk about business. As it turned out she was in the Chicago area for the American Sewing Guild show this weekend. Kathi didn't realize we are in the Chicago area so hadn't called us before coming up here for the show. We made plans for supper together and did that last night.
It's always fun spending time with Kathi as she is really a wealth of information on all kinds of subjects. She lives in the El Paso Texas area and travels around the country doing a lot of shows at everything from Martha Pullen to small dealers everywhere. One of her sons works for the US Border Patrol as an instructor and that creates some interesting stories too!
We all enjoyed the buffet at the hotel she's staying at and the time to visit. I should have passed up the carrot cake but just couldn't say NO to it. I think it was calling my name as I walked by the buffet!
Speaking of buffet...
ArtisticThreadWorks is a veritable buffet of embroidery designs and information. It's growing larger every day in terms of the shear volume. One of my current projects is to pare down the menus as they have just grown kind of "unruly" to me. So you'll probably notice the menus changing over the next couple weeks. Rest assured - I plan to make everything MORE available by doing this. Just less links on the starting pages. If you notice something is missing, please email me. Just in case I accidentally forgot to add the path back in. :-)
One other thing you'll notice on the site... I'm in the process of making things easier to identify for our guests. A "Guest" is someone who uses the site but hasn't made the decision to become a member yet. Guests have access to enough of our articles and designs to get an appetizer and find out how good it is before joining us.
One of my goals is to make it easy for our guests to identify items they have access to. I've done that with a "color-coding" system. I plan to identify content available to guests with BLUE and content for members with PURPLE. For example, an article that can be read by a guest will be identified by a blue label like these...
While content for members will be identified with purple labels like these...
