Two Embroidery Tips For Today

"Tip 1: I use a blue water erasable marker for orienting designs. There are times when I have found the marks difficult to remove without completly submerging the design. The solution came with a bit of a concoction that I add to the water.

I have a spray bottle with distilled water, a teaspoon of alchol and a few drops of clear dish soap. The soap acts as a wetting agent penetrating the ink. The alchol wipes out evidence of tell tale blue or purple. I keep the solution in the refrigerator to prevent mold from growing in the bottle.

Tip 2: I made a pin cushion in sections (like a basketball is divided) using different colors to match the code colors of embroidery needles. After using a needle for a short while I store it in my cushion for easy retrieval the next time I need it. The pin cushion as a bit of plain steel wool under the cover which aids in keeping the needles sharp. "
